This park and beach is located North of Bemidji State University Campus on Birchmont Ave.
The are many parking places within the park and right outside the park. If you do not get a parking spot in the park, please use the neighborhood streets towards the college The transition area is next to the lake and easy to locate. The check in area is right there also.

Saturday, July 25
Transition opens at 6:15 a.m.
Bike racks will already be set up and are on a first come basis. There will be plenty.
6:45 a.m. Registration opens. Pick up your number, swim cap, shirt and anything else at the registration table. We will be doing body numbers at that time also.
8:00 a.m. – The 5th annual Paul Bunyan Triathlon starts

Event Information
Transition Area - For safety and security, only competitors are allowed in the transition area. The transition area is on grass so riding your bike is not allowed in the transition area. Everyone must wear an approved bike helmet. Bike helmets must always be buckled. You will not be allowed to get your bike until all other bikes are in
Teams - There a number of teams in this years event. Teams are asked to place thier bike in an out of the way bike rack in the transition area. Please stand in a safe place while you wait for your team members.
Waves - There will be 4 waves at the starts
8:00 a.m. Wave 1 - All long course participants
8:20 a.m. Wave 2 - Short course Elite, and all short Course Males 39 and under
8:23 a.m. Wave 3 - Short Course males 40 and up, Short Course Teams and Short course Clydsdales
8:26 a.m. Wave 4 - All Short Course Females
The 1 mile and 1/2 Mile Swim – The swim will be out and back. Keep the buoys on your right. Swim caps are provided. Lifeguards will be on kayaks and are there for your safety. Please be aware that the area where we are swimming drops off fast. If you need to rest, let a lifeguard know. You will not be penalized for resting on a kayak. Wet suits are allowed but not neccessary.
The Bike - a map of the bike course in in the table above. As you exit Cameron Park, you will take a right and then an imediate left on 26th Street that will take you to Highway 21. Turn right on Highway 21 until you reach Birchmont Beach road where you will take a right. That Birchmont road to Country Club Road where you will take a left - You cross the road at this point and there will be a volunteer at that corner but please be careful. Country Club Road meets up again with Highway 21. AT THIS POINT, ALL LONG COURSE BIKERS TAKE A RIGHT ON HIGHWAY 21 AND SHORT COURSE BIKERS CROSS HIGHWAY 21 AND BEGIN THE ROUTE BACK TO CAMERON PARK. Long course bikers take highway 21 north to Turtle River turn around, then follow Highway 21 back to 15th St. and back to park.. Shurt Course bikers take Highway 21 back to 26th St and back to Park All corners will have volunteers for directions and safety. The bike course is not closed to traffic. Always use caution! Drafting is not allowed. Helmets must be worn.
The Run
The 3 and 5 mile run is out and back heading south of the park on Birchmont Ave, with the 3 milke turn around on Lake Blvd and the 5 mile turn around at the Hampton Hotel on the south side of the lake. The course in all on city sidewalks. The long course will run by Paul and Babe - stop for a picture.
Results and awards - Results will be available as quickly as possible after the event. Awards are presented to the top three in each 5 year category plus team, Elite Clydesdale and Athena divisions.
Volunteers are still needed - Multisport events take an incredible number of volunteers to carry out and you can never have too many. I am always willing to trade an entry to a future event such as the St. Paul and Square Lake Triathlon or any Vacation Sports 2010 triathlons or runs in exchange for your help. This also applies for getting help from a friend or spouse. Please let me know if you or someone you know can help.
Be prepared for any type of weather. The weather outlook looks good for Saturday. Still be ready for any type of weather. The event will take place rain or shine.
